*Under Construction* Facilities and Equipment
The Water and Environment Laboratory is housed in the Mackenzie Chown Complex at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. The facilities and a considerable portion of the equipment were purchased with the assistance of the Canadian Foundation for Innovation.
EQUIPMENT
(1) LIMNOLOGY
Our lab is completely equipped for the collection and analysis of lake sediment cores for pollen, stomata and charcoal. Field equipment includes zodiacs, coring platform, multiple Livingstone piston corers, Glew gravity corers and a Uwitec coring system. Laboratory equipment includes HF approved fume hood, equipment for LOI, Bartington Systems Magnetic Susceptibility meter and sensors (MS2B, MS2E), and numerous Nikon biological and dissecting microscopes.
(2)DENDROCHRONOLOGY
We have a fully equipped dendrochronology lab at Brock University, including four Velmex measuring systems with Nikon microscopes, a set of ten boom-stand microscopes for teaching in dendrochronology, numerous Haglof increment borers, and a microtome for thin section sampling.
